Cornish B&B 'one of the best'
The Woodleys have run their business for more than 32 years
The owners of a Cornish bed and breakfast are celebrating after it was named as one of the best in Britain.

Degembris Farmhouse in St Newlyn has won the accolade from Which Magazine's newest B&B guide.

Roger and Kathy Woodley have been running the business for more than 32 years.

The business was named as one of the Editor's Top 20 B&Bs in the Bed & Breakfast Guide 2004, which was published on Friday.

Mrs Woodley said she was "over the moon" on hearing she had won the accolade.

"I'm absolutely delighted.

"I've been runner up for the AA landlady of the year award a couple of times but I've never won an award as big as this before."

She said cleanliness was the most important factor in running a successful bed and breakfast.

"That is so important, and so is treating people genuinely, we try and make them feel at home and not just like a number."

The guide's editor, Elsie Dillard, said there are several criteria that entries are required to meet.

"Basically it's the friendliness, it's the very first thing when you knock at the door.

"It's the smile and the welcome you receive, that sets the scene for everything else.

"Everything is good about Degembris Farmhouse."
